Teenagers.

Such a curious thing. The more I think about them, the more complicated it seems. On a basic level, yes, teenagers do form cliques. Not in the ridiculous way the media portrays them, but in the long run, teens do end up falling into one group or another. That's not to say all teens are the same. A group of kids in the class at my college are "skaters", so to speak. Yet, given that I've talked to them separately, they really don't seem to fit the stereotype. And yet, in an odd way, they do.

I guess it's just weird. Teens all fulfill some niche or another as defined by society, and yet they don't really seem to fit it one way or another. Then there are the ones who don't fill those niches, or rather try not to. That would be me. Unfortunately, when you don't do this, it tends to make you seem like a boring individual. Now, how does this work? A teen could fall into a goth group, and actually be a really nice person (I actually know a few people like this). They don't seem to be candidates to be goths, and yet they are. Someone who's just like that who decides NOT to be goth is now suddenly uninteresting to everyone else.

I suppose my point is that if you aren't conforming to one group or another, you won't get noticed much...

I'm thinking too much again...
